There are some people who will tell you to forget about the old you, you're not that person anymore; I agree with part of that. I like the matter of remembering who I used to be as I'm not that person anymore. Remembering who I was is encouragement of who I am now. What a process to change, so I acknowledge it.
Change for everyone isn't easy and it's a hard road traveled at times. Makes sense though, think of the people and things you've had to change or get rid of in your life that were absolutely no good for or to you. The road to inviting those people and things into your life was easy, getting rid of them are hard as there are spirits attached to those people and things. It's not so easy to get of or be free of them.
So when you notice change in your life, take a second, maybe a minute to reflect back on who you used to be or what you used to do. Please don't reflect long re-traumatizing yourself, just think long enough to acknowledge; 'yeah, I used to do those things, surround myself with the wrong people, struggle financially, had no clue of who I was, etc.', then acknowledge that you are none of those things now.
